ALI Conversation Groups Program for Spring 2020

Are you looking for a place where you can feel safe practicing your English skills and interacting with native English speakers? We have just the place for you!

The Spring 2020 ALI Conversation Groups Program will run Monday through Friday (10am-4:50pm), Jan. 27th until April 24th.

These FREE daily sessions will give you the opportunity to practice speaking English with native speakers in an informal environment.  At the top of each session, the Conversation Group leader will be prepared with a topic of interest but will allow and encourage participating students to let the conversation evolve freely from there. These group sessions are meant to be fun and causal. The 50 minute sessions are run on a first-come-first-serve basis (capped at 5) so please arrive early. You may join any group you wish as many times as you’d like at absolutely no cost. These sessions will take place at TCC 221.
We also offer One-on-One Conversation Partners! International students can find a list of native English-speaking USC students who are available for hire ($14.25 per one hour session). You can check out our list of partners by clicking here. 1-1 Conversation sessions are flexible, personal, and easy to set up!

We encourage you to check out the attached flyers and our website. Like us on Facebook and follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on our latest announcements and learn about events around campus to attend! We will be offering more opportunities to practice English through events and workshops and these will be announced via social media and our website as they arise.

For instance, we have one upcoming evening event which will promote conversation and new friendships. See information below and/or the attached flyer.

“New Communities Through Conversation”

Tuesday, February 4th 6:30-7:30pm

Troy Hall East Conference Room (3025 Royal St. LA, CA 90007)

This evening event will be catered by Northern Cafe (Chinese food). Students can mingle and chat with native English speakers and other international students, while playing games (with a chance to win prizes), and eating food. To join in, just arrive at the location and bring your ID.

If you have any questions about either Conversation Groups, One-on-One Conversation Partners, and other events, please email Shelly Snellman at hacco@usc.edu.
