September 27, 2018

The Dean of Chapman University’s Schmid College of Science and Technology, L. Andrew Lyon, has been tasked to launch a new Fowler School of Engineering, scheduled to begin formal operations in Fall 2020. Dean Lyon is actively recruiting faculty to be a part of this new endeavor. Over the next 5 years, he will have the opportunity to hire at least 35 new engineering faculty in the areas of computer science, computer engineering, and electrical engineering. Some of the initial sub-disciplines targeted for recruitment are artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity, and networks. These individuals will join their already strong core of computer science/software engineering faculty with whom Dean Lyon is working on the initial programming of the School.

Dean Lyon will be visiting USC on Monday, October 15, 2018 to meet with PhD students and postdocs who might be interested in a career in academia at a rapidly expanding university such as Chapman.

If you are interested in meeting with him for 30 minutes to learn more about Chapman and the Fowler School, please email engineering@chapman.edu to schedule a time.

Meetings will take place in KAP-226.
