CTF Conference Nominations!

April 18, 2019

You may know the California Transportation Foundation (CTF) from their long running, annual Transportation Education Symposium.  The CTF has added a new program – Conference Connections.  Conference Connections is a no cost program free to selected junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students to attend California transportation-related conferences, usually in coordination with a mentor from the transportation industry.  Transportation conferences are a great way for students to make contacts and learn about new issues facing the industry.

September 2019 Conference Connections include:

  • California American Planning Association Conference to be held September 15 – 18, 2019 in Santa Barbara California.
  • ITS California Annual Conference to be held September 9 – 11, 2019 in Los Angeles California.  For additional conference information please seehttps://www.itscalifornia.org/events/

CTF asks faculty members to identify students likely to benefit from a conference experience.  USC can identify up to two junior or senior undergraduate or graduate students majoring in either engineering/computer science/data science or urban planning/public policy/public administration for each conference.  CTF will select up to four students from schools across California to attend each conference.

Like the CTF Transportation Education Symposium, this program is free to our selected students.  CTF will reimburse students selected for the conference registration; reasonable and customary meal expenses; lodging at the conference hotel or lower cost accommodations on the nights of the conference; and travel costs, including coach airfare and ground transportation to and from airports.  Providing this experience free for students is part of CTF’s non-profit mission.  They are looking for bright, articulate students who we can expect to make the most of this experience.

USC owes CTF nominations by May 17.  If you are interested in being nominated for this experience, please email Ms. Vickie Deguzman (copied, victoriv@usc.edu) with your name, program and major, expected semester and year of graduation, which conference you would like to attend, likely career objective, self-reported GPA, current mailing address, phone number, email, and gender.  We will take your message as permission to share this information with CTF.
