Information about the IIE-GIRE Fellowship Program!

April 18, 2019
The application for the IIE-GIRE (Graduate International Research Education) Fellowship Program is now open. The IIE-GIRE Fellowship Program is a National Science Foundation (NSF) supported program that provides financial support for engineering PhD candidates to conduct overseas research for up to 5 months. This program also provides $2,000 USD to each accepted student’s academic advisor to visit their student while abroad or help with internationalization efforts at their home institution.
International opportunities are critical in the development of the next generation of engineering professionals and we are excited that this fellowship can support the internationalization and further development of partnerships between researchers, labs, departments and institutions. We hope that IIE-GIRE fellows will be introduced to new research approaches and methods, hone their ability to conduct research in an international setting, improve their expertise and credentials as scientists and engineers, enhance their interpersonal relationships and networks, and enable them to contribute to the global scientific community.
This program is open to all U.S. citizens and permanent residents that are currently enrolled in an engineering doctoral program at a U.S. institution and applications will be accepted starting today through May 31st. For those who are interested in applying, we will be hosting an application informational webinar on Thursday, May 2nd  Sign up here.
More specific details can be found on the IIE-GIRE webpage and if you have any specific questions about this program, please to do hesitate to contact us at iiegire@iie.org.
