Piazza integrates with both D2L Brightspace instances

Integration with D2L Brightspace allows the instructor to easily create Piazza courses.

Add Piazza link to your course on DEN@Viterbi's Brightspace site.

1. Navigate to https://courses.uscden.net and to your course's homepage where you'd like Piazza added.

2. Click on the three dots to the right of the course's main menu.

3. Click "Manage All Course Navbars"

4. Click this dropdown.

5. Select "DEN@Viterbi Course Default Navbar with Piazza". Click "Apply"

6. You will now see Piazza on your course's homepage navigation menu. Click on the link and you can now create your course. Students can also click on the same link to be added.

1. Navigate to your course in USC D2L Brightspace . USC Brightpace = https://brightspace.usc.edu

2. Click here.

3. Click "Manage All Course Navbars"

4. We are going to create a copy of the existing navigation menu bar to make edits. Click here.

5. Click "Copy"

6. Click "Viterbi NavBar 3.2024 - Copy"

7. Click "Add Links"

8. Click here.

9. Type "piazza [[enter]]"

10. Click the "Piazza" field.

11. Click "Add"

12. Click and drag "Piazza" wherever you want it in your menu

13. Click "Save and Close"

14. Let's change the title to make it easier to decipher. Click "Viterbi NavBar 3.2024 - Copy"

15. Click the "Name" field.

16. Type "with Piazza"

17. Click "Save and Close"

18. Click this dropdown.

19. Click "Apply"

20. You will now see Piazza in your course menu. Click on the "Piazza" link to create or access your Piazza course.

Once you've added Piazza to your D2L Brightspace Course page through an you should be able to access it within a link in your LMS. Here's how to take the next steps and configure your class within the LMS integration.

Confirm Enrollment

Within your course, you will be prompted to confirm your Piazza enrollment. Please note that some information is transferred to Piazza from your LMS, including your name, email, and instructor role, as well as the course name and number of your course. If you are creating a Piazza account for the first time, please create a password and agree to our Terms of Use.

Once you confirm your Piazza account, you will be taken to a page to create a new Piazza class, or to link to a pre-existing Piazza class.

Create your class on Piazza

If you would like to create a new class on Piazza, your Class Name, Class Number, and Term will be automatically pulled from your course. Please fill out the Estimated Enrollment box (it’s okay if this number changes) and click “Create New Piazza Class”:

Already created a class on Piazza?

If you have already created a class on Piazza and would like to link it to your course, please enter the Class Number of your Piazza class (if it does not match your Course Number in your LMS) and click “Search for this class”:

Then, click "Link to this class" to complete the LTI link:

Your class should now be linked in your LMS.
