The Viterbi School of Engineering, USC have partnered with The Indo-US Science and Technology Forum (IUSSTF) to support the IUSSTF-Viterbi program. Established in 2010, this program gives undergraduate students from India majoring in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Computer Engineering and Computational Sciences, the opportunity to undertake an 8-week Viterbi research internship at Viterbi School of Engineering, usually from May July, giving a chance to understand research and capacity building in areas of engineering and technology. This program is meant to create a pipeline for them to apply to the PhD programs.
The program hosted by Viterbi professors, promotes exchange of experiences in technology and research. The students participating get to work closely with USC’s professors and PhD/research students to guide them and give them an experience of what a research program is. The program guides and help students for doing research in various fields and encourages them to take and explore research as their career. This year, the research topics included Spiky Neural Network, artificial intelligence, multi-core platforms, concurrent programming, etc.
With the ongoing research projects, the students also participated in events like Scavenger hunt, Charades, Jeopardy, etc.
