Brightspace Support for Faculty

Brightspace is a comprehensive learning management system (LMS) that supports online, blended, and in-person learning. It features an intuitive drag-and-drop interface for course content creation, seamless integration with third-party tools, a mobile-first design for optimized access on all devices, advanced predictive analytics for insights into student performance, and robust accessibility features to accommodate diverse learner needs.

DEN@Viterbi has utilized Brightspace for the past decade, ensuring a robust and effective learning experience. With USC's transition from Blackboard to Brightspace beginning with Summer 2024 courses, our office is fully equipped and prepared to provide comprehensive support.

Currently DEN@Viterbi will continue to use its own instance of Brightspace for DEN courses.

We are excited to announce two upcoming training sessions for the USC instance of Brightspace on November 18 and 21. The sessions will cover the same content: Brightspace basics, differences between DEN and ITS Brightspace instance, and new widgets/third-party tools. Please register for the session that fits your schedule:

Audience: Open to all DEN Pilot Faculty and staff. Recordings will be available to those who register.

DEN@Viterbi Pilot Timeline and Key Milestones:

  • November 4: Spring 2022 - Summer 2024 versions of your pilot course(s) have been successfully migrated for Pilot faculty.   
  • November 15: Spring 2025 Course Shells are available.
  • Coming Late December: Fall 2024 courses will not be migrated until after the current semester concludes. Please note, any changes to these courses after December 4, 2024, will not be carried over in the course migration. We will notify you once these courses are available in mid-to-late December.
